Tax form q, nombre de pièces?

VERY trifling question here!   Filling in tax form, section 5, change of address.   Tiny little box I almost missed, "nombre de pièces", to help them work out how much taxe d'hab we'll have to pay.

No explanation in the notes, and no numbers in any of the legal stuff either.  Is it number of bedrooms, or do I count the living room?   The house was advertised as a "3 chambres", but in fact there are only 2 bedrooms (the estate agent counted the teeny mezzanine overlooking the living room as number 3, the parents had their bed up here).

This is an expensive area for taxe d'hab, I don't want to be paying for rooms we don't have!

Thank you.

When we did our first tax return at the French tax office, the section on  "No of pieces" was left blank by the French tax assistant.  The 2004 form only requires this to be changed if you have moved in 2004, so do I assume that the French have records of the number of rooms at my address and that they are correct or just fill it in anyway.

Also, does anyone know the significance of the notified "plafond  calcue sur vos revenus 2003"? in the Epargne Retraite section?  Can you claim back french paid tax on interest on savings for retirement?   It says" if the plafond  calcue sur vos revenus 2003 is wrong",  to change it, but what is it and what is it based on?  We were only here for 7 months in 2003,  so can this ceiling be raised, is it an advantage to do so, or will it do it automatically for 2005?

I tried changing it on the tax calculator and all it did was up the ceiling for 2005,   It made no difference to the tax bill

We did move house last year, Ron, that's why I have to fill it in!   I just don't want to be paying for an extra mythical bedroom that we don't have!

I've asked two people this morning, one agreed with Battypuss (thank you, Battypuss!), one said something different.  2 out of 3, I'll go with Battypuss!
