Chancer
Good article Betty. The term just never sat well with me in the same way that some people I meet trigger a deep down feeling of unease, I have never been able to put my finger on it but the article has perhaps enlightened me. If you see those “expats” in France, call them immigrants like everyone else. If that hurts their white superiority, they can jump in the air and stay there. The political deconstruction of this outdated worldview must continue. I started my Hotmail account when I travelled in 1999, the username I chose, the one I use to this day is my family name followed by "migration" (it makes sense if you know my surname) and has proved to be very apt considering my travels movements since then. I did not choose expat but I bet many have.
