Dick Smith
I have received a gnomic message from Credit Agricole:'Si votre compte été ouvert avant le 28.02.2003, nous tenons à votre disposition une convention de compte que vous pouvez signer à votre agence.'Nothing else in the envelope except for a leaflet about getting someone else to sign up for CA for which I get a voucher for €15. Whoopee. Now, I understand what it says, but I have no idea what it means - can anyone advise me?
Tourangelle
Looks to me like they have just realised that you haven't signed something that it would be in their interests for you to sign. I would read it very carefully if I were you...

Dick Smith
Thanks, both. I think a bit of constructive amnesia might come into play here - if they need it badly they'll contact me again, and then I'll ask for details.
makeiteasy
Hi,in fact a "convention de compte" is just a contract explaining how your account should be managed, what are the normal rules to use it, what you should do if you need an overdraft, etc...so at least nothing new, but banks are obliged to provide it and to prove that you got it(that's the reason they ask you to sign it and send back to them).Since 2 years banks are obliged to provide that "convention" when you open your bank account but if you had open yours before they are obliged to send it to you.I hope it answers to your queryCéline
Dick Smith
Ah! I see. I did have a strange bit of photocopied papoer listing about a gazillion things they could charge me for, but that was it. I might keep them waiting...

Oh well, maybe not all banks are upto date with their paperwork and like Dick I will profess some degree of amnesia...
