Krill
Hi, I have just cashed in a mini ISA and tried to open another and was told by Abbey that I had to be resident in the UK, when I asked if this was an Abbey ruling or law in typical Abbey fashion they didn't know, there was no problem paying into the old one when we moved here, has anyone managed to open an ISA while resident here? I am a tax payer in the UK dont know if that's relevant
Fantine

Susie
You are not allowed under the ISA regulations to either open or contribute to an ISA if you are not a UK resident. If you are a resident in France you will have to complete a French tax return and will be able to invest in French tax free investments.Your UK ISA will be subject to 11% social charges and income tax at your highest rate in France.
