Jackie
Apologies if this has been asked before but can a claim be made against the cost of a safety fence around a swimming pool. My feeling is unlikely considering the number of folk having to do this! We are also having to replace the barn roof for safety reasons but I gather from a recent post that this is only going to result in a reduction in TVA if we are lucky.................John not Jackie
Val_2
Your barn roof replacement will automatically come under the lower rate provided the work is invoiced before the 31.12.05 when TVA is due to revert back to 19,6% if the current scheme is ended (we are currently wearing teeshirts campaining to keep the lower rate).Any invoices after that date for non-finished work will be full rate regardless of what was on the estimate originally. This is deemed as a reduction anyway so you won't be able to claim against your income tax return although you can always try and see what happens. As for swimming pools, they are seen as luxury items here in France and I honestly don't think you will get any rebate there.
BJSLIV
Your barn roof replacement will automatically Is it 100% automatic? The regs that I have seen say that the 5.5% rate applies to "locaux à usage d'habitation ", but can include additional contiguous facilities such as "garages privatifs attenants à l'habitation".So for example would a detached barn count? LesLauriers
You may be able to claim for insulation, not roofing, for the barn but I suspect that will only be if you are currently living in it.There is no allowance against tax for swimming pool safety measures.
