Gay and happyPaul
I owe money on a unsecured load and a credit card back in England. I can not pay them off yet. Can I be made bankrupt and have my french house seized to pay them off?

Iceni
You will probably find that recovery of debts in England is subject to English law. If your creditors go down the bankruptcy route you will be obliged to declare your assets, wherever they may be located. Failure to make full disclosure is VERY serious so I agree with the previous poster that you need to obtain professional advice.Johnnot
Russethouse
I think it may be worth looking at the site www.moneysavingexpert.com. There are all sorts of things on there but I think that you will find good advice on dealing with debt and the relevant links. There is also a chat forum and you could ask the same question, of course they are not French experts but never the less worth a look IMHO.
