makeiteasy
Hi NTC,i don't really see how you can get a "UK" mortgage in France!!!If you want a UK mortgage you could only do it with a lender IN UK!!!What i mean is that french branch of UK banks are rulled by the same law than french lender.Barclay's bank in France is a french company since 1967(Barclay's bank SA).Abbey National became UCB mortgage a month ago, part of BNP Paribas, and CCF is a part of HSBC but could just provide french mortgages. If you mean by UK mortgage e.g an equity release, i could find some lenders IN FRANCE who could set up that kind of loan
Nick Trollope
There are (or perhaps were in Abbey's case) UK banks who offer UK mortgages (or perhaps secured loans) secured against "overseas" property.
makeiteasy
Are you sure? Because my british clients who don't have anymore property in UK had their mortgage application systematically refused by UK banks if they settle in France because they are outside their control.Again,I'm not talking about releasing equity against a UK property. adrianpmills
ntc - you could try this link. There may be a few specialist lenders who could offer you a UK loan secured against a french property, although I have not heard of a case. I would have thought that the market would be much more competitive for a french loan on a french property or an equity release on your UK property.http://normandy.angloinfo.com/af/254/normandy-home-financing-and-mortgages.html
