If you are a french resident but own a property in the UK that just pays the mortgage and there is no income out of it what is the tax situation for the French authorities. how does one get taxed for houses in the UK if one owns a house in France? also if we sell the French house and come back to live in the UK house what is the tax situation in the UK later if the hosue in France is made residence principale? thanks in advance for any help.

As a french resident, you fall within the french tax system and you pay french tax on your worldwide income. The payments you receive which you then use to pay your mortgage will be treated as rental income and will be taxable.

If you've sold your french house and returned to the UK, you become liable to UK tax.  I don't understand it when you say the house is made a residence principle - you've sold it!
