French banks are very cautious and only lend when they are sure of covering possible defaults.Good thing is the rates are very low.
Junlesley
Hi, we have a mortgage with Credit Agricole Britline, they have been brilliant, we dealt with a Samantha Pittman in Caen, and she could'nt have been more helpfull.
Me0wp00
My brother got a mortgage with credit agricole, the offer was in the post within 4 days although the mortgage was small and a decent deposit paid so not much risk to them, but no problems with the notaire and a very good fixed rate. jxedwards
In Oct 2004 we saw a property and made an offer without any finance arranged in France. We then got reffered to CA by the immobillier. We then opened 2 bank accounts, arranged 1 mortgage, life & house insurance with CA all in 2 hours. The lady was english speaking due to an english husband. All we had to do on our return to the UK was supply them with utility bills, proof of income and marriage cert. To be honest they were brilliant. This was at the Figeac (lot) branch. Unfortunately our english speaker advisor no longer works there. However since then with our poor french equalled by their poor english we have managed to obtain a french credit card and arrange various payments. So hopefully your local branch will be as accomodating. John
Clarkkent
can you be uk resident for them or must you be french residentIf your income is in the UK then borrow in the UK, if it is in France then borrow in France. If you are UK based then any benefit you may perceive arising from borrowing in France may be wiped out by currency fluctuations and the constant cost of converting relatively small amounts from sterling to euro as you service the loan.
