Llwyncelyn
Due to a whole host of reasons the Local Inspector has agreed to an extension in time for the submission of my tax return. All the information is now available but the tax form fills me with dread (we do not have an English speaker here in St Lo Tax office nor should we) and my French is too weak to just wade into a document that sets the standards if you see what I mean.A couple of weeks ago in one of the French magazines there was a British qualified (ACA) accountant registered here in France and who for 200 euros completed your return. I have his details on my screen but when I try to ring the number in Montpellier it looks like an 0870 number prefixed with 00 33 and the fax number is also prefixed with 00 33 but with an English STD number. It is all very confusing and to add to this I have mislaid the magazine and thus am no further forward. The email address is info@frenchaccountants etc.Does anywhere have any positive news on these people please and yes I very much appreciate that it is somewhat of a wild goose chase and that I am a newcomer to this forum. So please forgive me.
Val_2
Could you not ask a neighbour to help you fill the form in or another brit if there is one nearby and speaks better french. Elderly brits here get their neighbours to help them and it costs nothing but an appero.
Ron Avery
Unless your tax return is very complex, if you are only declaring rental income, a pension or savings interest, it really is not that hard, but if you have little French nevertheless daunting.Best thing is to do do a search on here for tax and tax forms and you will find recent posts detailing exactly which boxes to fill in the incomes mentioned above. If you have specific questions after doing that, PM me and I'll try to help you. There is also a help line in English for tax questions Which is infotax-southwest@dgi.finances.gouv.fr but be aware that when she talks about state pensions being taxed in the UK, she does not mean old age pensions, she is referring to Civil service and local government type pensions.
