Anyone for Cricket?
HiI posted a couple of weeks ago that my Tax H'habitation had come through as next to nothing despite us having a modest income. I stated that I thought the figures had been miss keyed and that I would take it up with the centre des Impots. I then noticed that on my Avis D'Impots my income (con-joint) was actually not listed at all, as we are in the process of getting a mortgage our current postion looked pretty dire as regards level of income so of course I needed to get it corrected. I set off for the tax office thinking here we go another bill coming, I see a lovely man who gets my original declaration out and he sees that they have missed my salary off complety when the form was entered on to the system. He says not to worry he will key it now, I ask, so how much will I have to pay, you won't says he, you will receive a refund of 656 euros, now not one to look a gift horse in the mouth I leave the office smiling like a cheshire cat.I am wating for the official new form to come through, he gave me a print from the system that showed the refund though and it appears that because we declared all the work we have done on a renovation we are doing to some flats (double glazing, new heating etc) we got a big credit against our tax bill and because previously the credit figure was much higher than the income figure nothing came through as a credit but now that my income is shown they are going to give me money back.I still don't quite believe it but they do say honesty is the best policy, I will keep you posted!
