aj_dr
Our son is in his final year at University in Scotland. What happens if he decides to work over here and live with us, he's 27, would his income go on our Tax return???aj
Sunday Driver
Normally, children aged over 18 are required to complete their own tax return but they may, under certain circumstances, apply to be included on your tax return. Details from the French Tax Office here. aj_dr
Thanks, Sunday Driver, think we'll try and opt for him to complete his own return....aj
Teamedup
I don't think that you will have to try and get him to fill in his own form, I think that it will be expected at that age, unless there are very exceptional circumstances ie a handicap or he is continueing his studies. Truthfully, once a young person starts work, then usually it is better for them to be on their own forms anyway. It was not of any financial benefit to us to keep our eldest on our form when he started working. And I am saying this even though a single person's income tax allowances are not very generous and in consequence income tax can be quite high.
