Coco
Some friends of friends were told by their plumber that they would be able to claim money back on their boiler and woodburner if they declared them to the tax people, which apparently they did, and got some money back by my friends know no more detail than that.My parents are having all their single glazing replaced with double glazed windows in a few weeks time and I've heard that they will be able to do similar.Does anyone know if this is true and how you go about it? Llwyncelyn
Coco its true.............We had a log burner (bio/green) installed by Rene Briasch in Villedieu and had 40% of the capital cost (not labour) allowed against our tax. Our accountant (a wonderful English speaking gentleman at Avranches) did the rest for us and his fees are very fairly based. He also confirmed that double glazing as against single glazing as well as insulation issues are covered but I am not sure at 40% or less or more! This applies to those of us who are subject to the French tax system. As to those who are so subject but do not pay tax I believe but cannot be sure that one gets a cheque back from Impot for the relevant amount rdgs
Mikew
To get your credit d'impots the WHOLE job, supply of goods AND installation, with VAT at 5.5% on a house over 2 years old, must be done by a french vat-registered artisan.
Anyone for Cricket?
I think the previous poster means french registered rather than 'french artisan', the nationality of your artisan is not important! We also got the cost of replacement double glazed windows taken into account even though there were not fitted, just supplied, by an artisan so I think the rules can be a little flexible in this regard, either that or we were just lucky! Ours is a slightly different situation as we had the news windows fitted to a long-term let property and that may be why we got the allowance even though the work was not carried out by an artisan. Sunday Driver
To claim the tax relief, you just enter the invoice amounts (excluding labour charges) in the appropriate boxes WF to WQ on your next tax declaration and attach copies of the installer's invoices.
