benson
I received recently from our bank a form detailing all info concerning each of our childrens savings accounts. the accompanying letter said dont forget to send the top section of each form off with you tax declaration and keep the bottom section for your records. We have never had this before and we havnt received one for our own accounts.Has there been some changes made to the tax forms this year regarding bank accounts? Patf
As I understand it, a new law came into effect on 1.1.07 applying to some savings accounts. Tax is now deducted at source from the interest on these accounts. Then you should be given a statement, as you were, to attach to your tax declaration when the time comes to fill it in. Perhaps your own account doesn't accrue interest? Some accounts are exempt. We had a letter about it from our bank yesterday. Pat.
