hinson76
I've just been online to check our bank account and to my horror we have been debited 2,200 euros in taxes by the local treasuary.Has anybody got an idea why? We have a bill for this years Fonciere but this is only for 560 Euros and has only just come through the post. The only thing I can think of is that we pay in rental cheques from 'Welcome Cottages' regularly .Can they Tax at source? Ron Avery
I don't see how anybody can give you an answer as to what this bill is for, but, yes they can tax at source. The best thing to do is to go to the Tresor Public named on your fonciere bill and ask them. Your tax fonciere is very very late, about 6 months to be precise, so that may be a clue if you have not paid it promptly or at all in previous years. Get in touch with your Tresor Public or try going on line to http://www.impots.gouv.fr
BJSLIV
I don't think it is likely that they will be deducting taxes related to your income without notification. I think it is almost certainly property related taxes. As Ron says did you have any Fonciere outstanding from previous years? What about the Taxes D' Habitation or as alternatively as you seem to be renting gites the Taxe Professionelle? Also if you have had building work done are you up to date with the various planning taxes due 18 and 36 months after the permit was granted?
