Ron Avery
In a word, NoYou should keep the P60s for the period covered by the 2006 tax return for 5 years in case they wish to examine or query your tax return. Not sure what your circumstances are in relation to Healthcare but you may need to show the P60s to CPAM though if you have to "justify" your income in relation to healthcare payment calculations. Bluebells
Thanks Ron, Healthcare E121, will hang onto the P60's, sure they will ask if they want to.
Gardian
Well Ron, they wanted to see mine and knew exactly what to ask for!
Ron Avery
Yes, you are right gardian, if you go in person to complete a return for the first time, it is normal to take evidence of your income as it may well be asked for, but if you fill in the return at home or even in subsequent years on line, it is not necessary to include documental evidence, only to retain it for five years for inspection should that be necessary, this is according to the SW Impots office. Sunday Driver
When I did my first tax declaration, I set up a spreadsheet of my monthly pension receipts (in euros at the prevailing monthly exchange rates) and my monthly savings interest and took a copy into the tax office to discuss completion of the tax forms. The inspector looked at it and said yep, that's fine - didn't want to see anything else. I asked him for a 3196 to fill in and he said don't bother, the spreadsheet fulfils the same purpose. As Ron says, the system is you make the declaration on "honour" and retain the supporting documentation in case of future query.
