Lori Posted May 12, 2007 Share Posted May 12, 2007 I think it depends on the type of loan you have. I just called them yesterday to find out the prepayment penalties on our home loand with them. I was told the penalty is 3% of the remaining balance or six months interest, which-ever works best for the borrower (you).She did not ask me my loan/account number, just what date we took out the loan, so I am assuming (perhaps not the best idea) that it is a global thing based on the year you took out your loan. makeiteasy Posted May 15, 2007 Share Posted May 15, 2007 Hi Woody,of course !!!....because instead of paying 4 years interest you will pay maximum 6 months interest(depending wether or not you have negociate it with your bank when your mortgage was set up).If you want to be absolutely sure, take the board called "tableau d'amortissement" that you have received with your mortgage offer and add the amount of interest for the next 4 years and you will see how much you save.Hope it will help[;-)] Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
