Benjamin
If I've understood this correctly we are all going to have to pay a little bit more for our prescriptions and medical transport as well as the 1€ we already pay when visiting the Doc. 3 nouvelles franchises médicales seraient applicables pour 2008 - 01/08/07NicolasSarkozy a apporté hier des précisions sur le projet de franchisesmédicales qui serait applicable à compter de 2008. Not a lot but it shows the way the thinking is going. If you want the service you're going to have to pay some more towards it. Clair
this sounds familiar...I remember when I started paying for prescriptions in the UK. It started off as a cost per prescription and soon became a cost per item, which increased whenever the politicians needed more money...

Will
Or you can pay £98.70 and get all medication free for a year. Excellent value.Sarko is at least trying to address the big deficits built up by the French health service. As its funding is so complicated and fragmented it seems very difficult to establish the true cost of health care in France, but it seems certain that costs are far more than income (even taking into account the CSG etc) and a drastic solution is needed. The NHS has addressed its similar difficulties by cutting funding, but that could never work with the way the French system is organised (it hasn't really worked with the NHS either because to oversee the spending, extra tiers of bureaucrats have had to be installed and paid for). So it will be interesting to see what further changes are made in France.

Will
You don't have to be ill; certainly not ill enough to convert to Welshness. I have three items for an allergy, plus a few other things for non-critical conditions. Paying for them separately would represent just over £20 a month. So just under £100 for 12 months is, to me, excellent value.

Will
Just to avoid confusion the £98.70 annual prescription prepayment certificate reference was an addition to Ernie's list of increasing NHS prescription charges. If anybody finds a complementaire policy for that sum I'm sure we'd all like to know. [:)]
