best bank?

I'm moving to paris to work for 3 months and I must have a french bank account so they can pay me, so could anyone recommend a bank to me please.

I just need a normal current account, like nationwide's flex account in england,

Hi Jenna - I have used credit agricole for the last 4 years and they have been fine.  Banking is one of those things it is hard to be wildly enthusiastic about but there have been no real problems and the staff have been friendly.  Have a great 3 months.  Ian

Hi Jenna,

For my 2 pennies worth, I would reccommend the HSBC as they seem to be gearing themselved up to be the "world" bank and are perhaps more non-french friendly than some other banks.

I have a Euro account with the HSBC and do not find them particularly good. I find that no-one in the banks here knows about them, and I can't access the account on -line.

I use CA who are fine.  However, when some friends moved here recently, I took them to our local Caisse d'Epargne, just for simple convenience.  Having done most of the paperwork and translations for them, I have to say that I have been truly impressed with the service and the help they were given.  The charges for their debit cards were also waived for the first year.  This may just be the specific branch but on the basis of the little I've seen I would certainly recommend them.
