mint
Went to the l'hotel des'impots and got it all sorted about our taxe fonciere. No records there but have now declared our official status. When I was sitting in the Waiting Room, a lovely English lady came up to me, gave me 4 kisses and whispered in my ear, "she's a miserable old cow".Certainly, she wasn't the most friendly person I'd ever met but, because I had all the paperwork, she unbended towards the end of our interview. Now about the taxe d'habitation, when is that due to come out? PeterCD
We are in the Charente Maritine (near St Jean D'Angely) and we pay our Taxe d'Habitation in December of each year.
mint
Thanks Peter. Next question, my OH is 76 years old and I understand (correctly or not) that he gets some sort of reduction. Is this correct and, if so, how do we go about getting the discount?
Nick Trollope
Yes (ish) but one must be old and on a low (set by statute) income - a UK full pension is above this level, I suspect. Back to the Hotel des Impots for this one.
mint
NickI don't mean pay nothing. I thought you were excused the "television" part of it, that is, the part of the tax that you pay for watching (mostly crap) French TV. Will pluck up my courage once again to see the "the miserable old cow" at the l'hotel des impots when the demand comes.
