We are thinking of moving near Avignon--any recommendations?

With respect, nobody on here can sensibly suggest a particular area to you. You have to take a week out, get one (or both) of yourselves down here and have a good recce. Hard work, but it's a major life change. Only you will know what 'feels right for you'. One man's meat and all that.

That's just the start. Having found a general area that you think you like, then it's property + price + schooling for your youngsters, etc, etc. At least another couple of week's worth.

Once you've hit on a particular spot, then a request for feedback may get you some objective comments like, "Superb", "Yes, but", or "Don't, whatever you do".

Best of luck.

I would think very carefully about moving a 13 year old child unless they are fluent in French, as this is a critical age for education, with presumably him or her starting their GCSE syllabus in September?

The view of many if not most posters in the education section is that the latest sensible age to move non French speaking children to France is 11 or 12, otherwise better to wait until they complete their secondary education.

Agree with the other posters, do be careful of moving a 13 year old if he/she doesn't speak French (well).

I live in Bedoin, about 30 minutes drive from Avignon.  I think Gardian is not too far either.

If you post more about the specifics of what you are looking for, perhaps we can help further.

As said, it would be wise to come here and stay as long as you possibly can to get a real feel for the overall area.
