Pierre ZFP
As regards damp and ventilation, you might want to skim through this threadhttp://www.completefrance.com/cs/forums/1347662/ShowPost.aspxA VMC is the way to go and is on my ever-expanding 'To Do' list.In the meantime, I use the bags of dehydrating stuff (Calcium Chhloride?) that you can get at the Brico sheds or supermarkets. Just snip the bag open and lay the inner sack on the rack provided. They 'suck' the excess moisture out of the air. Since using them my house no longer smells musty after being closed up. Cost about a couple of euros per bag and each lasts about 2 months. Bargain!
Jo
I'm also a great fan of those things! Especially the lavender scented ones, since I've been using them I no longer have any problems with mould appearing while I'm away[:D]
Pierre ZFP
Lavendar scented ones? Never seen (smelt) scented ones. Where do you get them?
Clair
I can only find the plain unscented bags. I did get the lavender scented ones once a few years ago and the scent was a lovely bonus.
