cheque certifié de banque ?

Hi,

My hubby has bought some building equipment on ebay and the owner has said he will accept either paypal or a "cheque certifié de banque" . As we have a 3 hour drive to go and collect this stuff we would prefer to see it and pay when we collect , to make sure it is all there, as we have been stiched up ( hubbys phrase !) before. The amount is 1500 euros. We are due to go on Monday morning, the banks are of course closed on Mondays, an added complication.

My questions are;

1. If we write a business cheque - is this the same as a cheque certifié de banque , or do we need to go to see our bank to get it ?

2. Or if we pay by Paypal  - can the payment be deffered until we see the goods somehow.

Any suggestions on the best approach please?

 A cheque certifié de banque is a certified cheque - one officially stamped as good for the amount shown, by your bank.

I it were me I'd offer to pay in cash on collection- régler en espèces lors de la remise en main propre.

Hope that helps.
