Contribution to charity and tax declaration

We have made a couple of donations to French Charities in 2007 and have been sent receipts and a note saying we should attach them to our tax declaration. Do we need to enter the figures on the declaration form and if so where? Many thanks in anticipation.........................J

AFAIK,

If your donation was made to an association which helps individuals in difficulty (Croix Rouge, Resto du Coeur, Secours Populaire, Secours Catholique...), you can write off 75% of that amount, up to a total of €488.

This amount (75%) is entered on form 2042 K (the main one), page 4, section 7, box UD.

For donations to other associations which qualify (if they've sent you a receipt, they probabaly do), you can deduct 66% of the amount donated as long as the 66% do not exceed 20% of your taxable income.

This amount (66%) is entered on form 2042 K (the main one), page 4, section 7, box UF.

Thanks for the reply. These were not contributions to charities for humans but in fact for the welfare of animals so should it be entered in box UF? ...................J

Sorry posted before I saw the second reply. So 66% of the amount shown on the receipt in box UF then. I take it any deducting to be done is done by them and not me?.........J

Nahhhh, I subscribe to "Le Particulier" and they produce a thick tax guide every year.

I left France before I started earning and I had never completed a tax declaration before. The first one was a bit of a challenge, even with the advantage of speaking French!

The annual guide has been my point of reference every year.
