scotty
I work a rotation of 28 days in Kazakhstan and 28 days off. Can anyone tell me if my days travelling to and from France counts as 2 days in France? The travel days are part of my 28 days off, so I have atually 26 days in France each rotation. Gyn_Paul
C,Mike S. - when he was being investigated by the taxe people - had the same question for them. As I understand it after a lot of argy-bargy, they agreed that travel days were discounted from the total residence count only if one end of the day ended up in a bed outside France. In other words, if he got off the boat on Thursday morning, then drove to AdeM and ended the day in his own bed, then the Friday counted as the first French day. Similarly, if they left for the UK on a Tuesday morning, and ended up in Kent that night, then Monday was the last residency day to count. However, if they left on the Tuesday morning, drove to the coast and stayerd in Caen (say), then Wednesday would become the first non-residency day.I think I've got that right: I can check with him directly if you like.Hope that helps,p
AnOther
If the basis of your question is to do with being considered tax resident in France or not then the 183 day rule is but one factor in determining that..For instance, if you have a property in France where you wife lives full time and to where you habitually return that itself would quite likely determine you as a tax resident.
