JohnRoss
I want to buy some prints of a couple of paintings from the USA. Anyone know what VAT and duty I am likely to get charged bringing them into France?........................JR
Bugsy
Get them sent as 'gifts', and you might pay nothing..........................
Pierre ZFP
As they are 'luxury goods' worst case is duty of 20% of the Cost Insurance Freight (CIF) value then TVA (17.5% ? ) levied on the whole lot.
cooperlola
In spite of what the official line is, my personal experience is that this is a complete lottery. My o/h buys stuff from the US on a regular basis (probably about 2-3 items a month and always the same kind of stuff) and only seem to get charged on around every 10th parcel. JohnRoss
Thanks for the information. They are two different prints of paintings with a total value of 1850 US dollars. The prints are each from a limited edition of 300. The TARIC code for prints give a 0% rate but I understand that VAT may be charged though not sure what rate would be used.........................................J
