PMartyn
I hope someone can answer my hypothetical question...If I rent a property in the UK (which i live in as a normal UK resident) but happen to own a property in France. If i then rent out the property in France to holiday makers, am I expected to pay tax in France or the UK? If so does anyone know roughly how much?ThanksP
cooperlola
Yes, you pay tax in France on rental income from French property afaik. See THIS link for details and how to do the caluculations.
PMartyn
thank you for your answer. I dont suppose there is an english translation of that somewhere? My French is a bit ropey. Thanks again
cooperlola
There is no English translation that I know of. However, if you use translation software like this:http://www.online-translator.com/site_Translation.aspx?prmtlang=enyou should get the rough drift. If there are any nuances which don't quite translate properly (as you know these things are a bit hit and miss) then do feel free to come back and ask. I (or somebody better qualified!) will do my best. IFP have good guides to this kind of thing - I'll try to dig the appropriate one out for you.[:)]EDIT : Begin here:http://www.french-property.com/guides/france/finance-taxation/taxation/
