Timetable for tax assessments

These are the posting dates for 2008:

Avis d'impôt sur le revenu

• 1er envoi par La Poste, à partir du 07/08/08 visible online on 01/08/2008
• 2ème envoi par La Poste, à partir du 13/08/08 visible online on 12/08/2008
• 3ème envoi par La Poste, à partir du 06/10/08 visible online on 02/10/2008

Clair: thank you.  But can you say what determines which group you fall into?  For instance, here we are at the end of August, and I haven't received the avis d'impôt yet - and it isn't visible on line.

Either I'm in the second group (or even the first!) and my assessment has gone missing and I should be making enquiries, or I'm in the third group and I should just relax until October.

Sorry if I've missed something, but how do I know?

Thanks.  I am déjà mensualisé, so I should receive the assessment not later than mid-September.

I must say, though, that the last part seems a bit nonsensical for those who aren't mensualisé.

It appears to say that the date when you should receive your avis depends on the date limite de paiement, but you won't know what that is until you get the avis.  So you just have to wait and hope.

When ours still hadn't arrived I rang the tax office and he told me there was no problem just that they were very behind with the declarations of those residents who had income 'encaissés à l'étranger'- I might add here I declared on the Internet. He added that we should receive something either by the end of Sept or mi-Oct. This info is helpful but the limit for our Cpam declaration was yesterday and having the avis d'imposition in my hands would have made matters a lot easier.

I declared online and am still waiting (it isn't available online either). I 'phoned today and was told I'd have it by 15th October! He asked if I needed it and I said yes, for CPAM, so he said he'd send a shortform version for them with the real one to follow.

Yes, same here, that's what I was told and, lo and behold, the shortform-rough-copy-looking-printout arrived at lunchtime today; too late for CPAM but what the h*ll. It looks as though we might be due a rebate; this just goes to emphasise that you really do need to know the right questions to ask in France.

...... or keep asking until you get the answer that you wanted in the first place? 

The letter from CPAM says, if you read it carefully, that in lieu of the tax avis, that you can provide a copy of your papers showing your income, like a copy of your tax return [I] or in some cases  that should be returns[Www]

Forgot to ask, were you talking about a rebate on your tax or your CMU payments?  For info, the first CMU payment based on the new 2008 RFR does not get taken until February 2009.

That's it, as we pay in instalments Feb and May we might have already paid too much it seems ... our income fell in 2007.
