PaulT
We have not received our taxe foncieres yet – unsure whether it will go to our French or UK address. We did get a form to enable us to pay by direct debit for d’habitation, but not for foncieres, and the form was sent to our UK address. As the payment date is 15 October would it be permissible to quote the reference number from last years and send a cheque for last years amount plus a bit more? It would be nice to go on-line but, my apologies to the French nation, our French is not up to that. Paul
giantpanda
Hi!After you bought the house, have you advised the Taxe Foncières and Taxe d'Habitation department of the Tax Office ( Centre des Impôts, not the Trésorie ) of you new address? If not the bill will continue to land at the address on the deed. And it means some stress, because finally they will ask for 10% more. They are slowly modernising, in as much that if you declare, they then change those addresses internally - but at present you can not bet on that.Since the Foncière is due middle of October, best pop in the Centre des Impôts now.Yours,giantpandaPS. If you had done this earlier, it would have proably been possible to change that address on the service part of the Mairie - but now that it is out, that would only have effect next year. Hence my trying to send a cheque drawn on our French bank account to pay without the payment slip but enclosing a letter quoting the details off of our last bill plus adding a bit for an increase.Paul
