sueyh
Should we take the attestation notifying my OH of his being on 100% ALD now to the Tax Office? Or will they have been notified of this by the CPAM.Suey
Jotty
I don't understand what this has to do with the tax office.
Sunday Driver
SueyThe fact that your OH has been classed as having an ALD is purely a heathcare matter and has nothing to do with your tax affairs. Just file the attestation and update your carte vital at your friendly pharmacie....[:)]
Jotty
More or less what I said..but it needed the Imprimatur of SD to make it true![:P]
Gardian
Maybe ............ but since you've drawn attention to your original post, perhaps SD's was expressed a smidge more objectively, eh?Feeling a bit grumpy tonight are we? Seems so.
sueyh
Thanks SD - I knew I'd get the right answer from you - put in a very straight forward way. I should have just pm'd you shouldn't I? We have updated our Carte Vitale.Kindest regardsSuey
Benjamin
Simply having an illness classfied as an ALD, as everyone else is saying, is not a reason to tell the tax man. However, there could be an accompanying scenario whereby you should tell the tax man. [:D]If the ALD is sufficiently disabling (for want of a better expression) and your OH qualifies for a French carte d'invalidité then you need to declare it on your next annual tax return as you will then get extra allowances against tax payable. Not such a daft question after all. sueyh
Thanks Benjamin. Just wasn't sure what we should or shouldn't let the tax office know about. Should we let them know that OH is in receipt of incapacity benefit? Its nice to get people like you and SD, who have the patience to explain in layman's terms and do not snap the heads off of lesser mortals like me. If your OH has been receiving Incapacity Benefit since before,I think, 1995 and it is paid without deduction of UK tax you must still declare it here as it is taxable in France.
