Mayennaise
Just received this months military pension into the french bank account and is less than ever. No surprise there given the current exchange rate. I rang Xafinity Paymaster, who administer all the military pensions, to ask them the rate they used when they sent the money over. They told me 1.10 but when we checked with amount we had received it equated to 1.02! Are Citibank taking a cut??
cooperlola
Cripes, Mayo, that is steep. I have a pension paid direct to France and the difference between the bank rate of the day and the rate I get is usually 2 points or so, not the 8 you're quoting (RBS). Is using Citibank your choice or that of the pension provider? Or did somebody misunderstand your enquiry? Have you checked what the official rate was that day for yourself? Mayennaise
Not our choice - the choice of the pension provider!. We did check the rate and this is when we discovered the discrepancy. Mind you - you girly that I spoke to at Xafinity had to go and ask her manager about the exchange rate and she may have misquoted him/her by the time she got back to me. When I told her that the amount that we had received was nowhere near the rate that she quoted she got a bit flustered and said she would get the 'team' to call me back. I got the feeling that call centre employees don't really know anything other than basic answers to questions!! Still haven't had my call back either!! Maricopa
Hi MayennaiseI too receive a miltary pension. Bearing in mind it normally takes about 4 days from the actual payment date and when it appears in the bank, is it possible that the girl (despite your specific question) only quoted todays rate and not the rate at the time of payment, which might well have been nearer 1.02. I am pretty certain that citibank don't take a cut, we (military pensioners) always seem to get the top notch rate available on any one day.
