Juswundrin
HiI'm surprised these (http://www.fairfx.com) doesn't get mentioned more often as a really good way of transferring £ to France for those of those who don't have Nationwide cards. We've had one for a year now and are really pleased with it. We use it for purchases and cash withdrawals (and withdrawing cash just to pay into our La Poste account as it's quicker/cheaper than our previous method of Moneybookers).Anyway, reason for the post; Fairfx are currently running a refer-a-friend promotion until the end of April. Anyone who joins via this will save the usual one-off joining fee of £9.95 (and I get a £5 referral fee too), so I thought I'd post it on here.If anyone's interested, just PM me your email address so that you benefit from the £9.95 saving.ThanksMartyn
AnOther
Looks useful for those bereft of the ubiquitious Nationwide card and unlike some similar cards there is no recharge fee. Also recharging takes a few hours as opposed to days for a currency transfer.Another worthwhile advantage is that being a preloaded card if it gets lost or stolen and misused the maximum that can be taken is the whatever the balance is.Good tip [;-)]
Théière
On a similar vein, HIFX have just started their on-line service with a minimum of £250 per transfer
Stan Streason
I used the HIFX facility yesterday. Very easy. Their rate was slightly worse than 4xCurrency Converters but their software does not run on my work computer (firewalls or something) so cannot use it during the day (when they are open). The ability to pay direct from my uk bank debit card was also very useful.
krusty
Both sound very good but you have to have a UK bank account and a UK address. [:(]
Théière
Krusty, wouldn't you need a UK bank account anway, otherwise why would you want to tranfer funds?
Judith
But you might well have a UK account, but only a French address.
