Scooby
Just a heads up for anyone thinking of opening one - they changed the rules on Friday (29th May). You can no longer open an account with a minimum deposit of £100; the account has to be your main account with salary paid into it every month. Benjamin
The £100 option still seems to be there. Is it for a date in the future and are pension payments an acceptable method of funding?
Scooby
The £100 option has definitely gone. I think it has to be a regular monthly payment of income so I'm guessing a pension would be ok.
Benjamin
This is why I asked.http://www.nationwide.co.uk/current_account/apply.htm
Scooby
We've been into the branch today (finally got around to opening a current account - had a credit card for ages) and were told categorically no. So we've had to agree to transfer our salaries, DD etc to the new account in order to open it. The actual effective date is 1 June but apparently Saturday doesn't count as a 'working day'. mint
Gee..........How long before they start charging to use their debit card whilst in the Eurozone?
AnOther
So whats to stop you transferring your salary/pension whatever back to wherever it was before once the account is open ?Sweets, stop being such a pessimist [:P]
mint
But what's there to be optimist about, Erns?
AnOther
Well for one Sweets I got my pension statement yesterday and far from seeing the anticipated a 30%+ drop chuffed to see that basically it's stood still for the last 12 months. Sure I've lost what I put into it in 2008/9, not an inconsiderable sum to kiss goodbye to, but overall a cause for optimism I think [:D]Anyway, the sun is shining, we're both healthy, son & partner are due over next week, quite enough to keep me from feeling maudlin [;-)]
mint
Plus, you're nowhere near that great big stretch of very cold water where you have been known to spend many of your days............Enjoy, Erns! Besides, it might not last![:P] Sorry, didn't really mean that last sentence, just teasing as usual.[kiss]
