French Bank Account charges

I'm currently with Credit Agricole but getting fed up with monthly charges, which is beginning to mount up over the years.  They charge 3,50 per deposit and 7,50 for the privilege of having an account.    Is this a common practice with french banks or does it vary from bank to bank?

The bank were brilliant when we were arranging the mortgage etc, but it's beginning to stick in my throat abit with the charges

Welcome to the forum.

Credit Agricole operate regionally and their charges vary from region to region. You need to say which region your are in and then someone may be able to help.

As a guide to bank charges someone (Clair?) posted this link to a site some time ago.

You must have signed for a compte service (bank account with built-in benefits), although I cannot see one with a €7.50 monthly charge on their tariff leaflet... Could it be the Compte Service Option 3 at €7.90 a month?

I cannot see where they charge €3.50 for a deposit though...

I have a basic no frills no insurance, no overdraft CA account (compte chèque) in another region and I only pay €37 odd a year for a MasterCard.

thanks for the reply.  I think perhaps that's what we unknowingly signed up to.  I'll be contacting  the bank to ask and look to changing accounts.  we only use the account for paying a monthly amount into for the mortgage & use cheques to pay bills.
