Patf
I got a letter today from HM R&C asking if I have interest to declare on UK savings accounts. Do you think it's to do with the publicised amnesty before they crack down on offenders?
AnOther
Sounds strange, do you have any undeclared offshore or Swiss bank accounts ? (you don't have to answer that [Www])If not, and you are French tax resident, AFAIK your tax liability is to France and whether you receive UK interest net of tax or not is, for most intents and purposes, irrelevant to HMRC. Patf
It is strange. I've looked at our 2 savings accounts in the UK and last financial year I had the large sums of 38p and 31p interest.I think it might be connected to husband just starting to get his OAP. Chrissie
Are you sure it's an official letter and not a clever scam to get you to divulge details of your accounts? I think there was something similar mentioned on this Forum a few weeks ago......Chrissie (81)
Gastines
The 31p and 38p sounds about right for H.M.R.C. If you dodge in the millions they don't seem to bother. Not that I'm in that league, yet.
BJSLIV
I've dodged earning millions for years![:(]
