Mr Coeur de Lion
Just got my latest water bills through.Despite me living alone the past 3 months and using the washing machine etc far less than before, my water bills have doubled.Normally pay about 57 euros for each, I am now having to pay 107 and 89 for the two.Anyone else experienced this massive increase in charges? cooperlola
Has the unit cost gone up, or the consumption? If the latter then maybe you have a leak?
Mr Coeur de Lion
No idea about consumption as my previous bill doesn't state it.Pretty sure I don't have a leak. My water system is pretty simple and I'd be aware if there was a leak anywhere. It would be obvious.I'll ask the neighbours if they have experienced a big increase I think. We both have similar houses.
woolybanana
Is it an estimate or an end of year catch up bill?
Mr Coeur de Lion
I normally get two bills a year for water (and sewage), 6 months apart, so 4 bills in total.Normally every bill is around the same, 50 something euros. The only difference is that this latest bill has consumption rates on it. sid
If this is the only bill showing the consumption perhaps all the others were estimated and now you're having to catch up?Normally the bill should show how the amount due is arrived at. Could you not call in at the Mairie for an explanation? They don't always issue the bills but they should be aware of how the totals are calculated. As I typed this I realised that not everyone is like us, out in the sticks; perhaps you are billed by one of the big utility companies like Veolia-Eau ?Sid
Mr Coeur de Lion
Am billed by the mairie. We have the meter read twice a year so I don't really think it's a catch up thing. Will see neighbour tonight and see what theirs is like. Then marie.
cooperlola
I guess only a local can help you, Richard. My standing charge is higher than the sum total of your previous bills and I'm on a fosse. Your new bills sound more like our normal ones!
Mr Coeur de Lion
Ok, think I have sussed it. Spoke to both neighbours today (was handy as they were together at the time). Their bills also are higher than normal. Then we all remembered that we put up swimming pools in the summer.....
