Qu's on how to set ourselves up for french/UK tax on French property

Hi

We have just brought a property in the Alps for own use and letting out in the season(s). I have read every website I can but still a bit confused about how to organise paying tax.

The mortgages we have are for 100% of property price (i know I can only claim for the interest against income). We are only planning to let it out to cover our costs so it gives us somewhere to go to visit our family who live there without it costing us a fortune for a usual holiday.

My question are:

What do we set ourselves up as for tax purposes. I've read about the micro enterprise (BIC) which is a flat deduction for expenses but we may break even or make a small loss so how else can we set up?

My husband has an income in the UK (where we live) and is in the 40% tax bracket. I have no income (stay at home mum) so pay no tax and don't use my UK allowance. How can we make use of my allowance for any UK tax liability (after double treaty), can we declare any income in my name only?

Does anyone have the details of a UK accountant that specialises in French Tax? Preferably in the South East of England but not essential.

Have I forgotten anything else.

Thanking you in advance for your replies.

Debbie

Why not a proper French accountant?  You could try Angela Francoise at Bruno Hebert in Caen.  They are part of a big national company Group Fidorg.  You can e-mail her at a.francoise@bruno-hebert.eu

Others may know other people but she's pretty straight in my opinion and you can deal with the company by phone/fax and e-mail which may be helpful.

Have a look at the tax FAQs at the top of this board: http://www.completefrance.com/cs/forums/1196188/ShowPost.aspx
