maude
Hi folks. We are hoping to sell this house very shortly.however we then have to find another and there is the query. What ideas are there out there regarding financing the 10% deposit to allow a compromis de vent to go ahead. We are only on retirement income and small amount of capital savings.Unfortunately not working out where we are for personal reasons, so need to move, possibly to a smaller house with less upkeep.Any advice welcome. maude
Les
It's not written in stone that you must pay a 10% deposit, lot's of people negotiate a smaller or even no deposit.
Gastines
Ask the Notaire. Having sold a few times we had one buyer who paid a deposit of E500. The notaire did point out to them that if they defaulted ,they would be liable to pay the full 10% deposit. You can also ask advice from the notaire what arrangements can be made as I'm sure a lot of buyers can't come up with the 10% untill thay recieve payment from their own sale. Most Notaire's would give you this info free, especially if they will eventually be dealing with the sale.
Tricia
We were in the same position and went to the bank to ask ( Credit Agricole.) There were 2 types of loan which could apply, and they lent us the money. It does depend on your income, but you can always ask. Pat.
