Help! I have developed a new addiction

menthe

Recommended Posts

I find myself following the US election as hungrily as anyone addicted to food watch and read cooking news and restaurant recommendation columns.  NOT a good thing and NOT to be recommended.

I'd be glad when the results are finally known and official.  All this tv watching and newpaper reading is playing havoc with my usually fairly ordered life.  It's eating, yes EATING, into my time and leisure activities.

Is anyone out there suffering with the same affliction?

Be prepared for a loooooooooooooooooonnnnnggggg wait. Trumps's got officials in place to contest every result. He's been planning this for four years.

Yes, I agree with Dave.  All the news sites still say the race is too close to call.  Shocking as that may be, at least to me.

It is so obvious that if Trump loses, he will be a very very poor loser.  He will not concede, he will encourage violence, he will attempt to use the courts to dispute any losses and those are just the obvious things.  He's quite capable of anything.

If he wins, don't expect him to ever leave the White House.  Until he's dead.

I'm personally not surprised there will be extra surveillance over the results, and hopefully the counts as well.

At the last US potus election, I remember watching a security camera videos taken high up in the roof of a school hall with timestamp, showing  unidentified people entering a vote count station after dark, switched the main lights on, after the vote counters had been told to go home. They quite plainly went to trestle tables up a corner that had been covered with blankets to the floor, lifted the covers, retrieved heavy suitcases on wheels from under the tables., dragged them over to the vote counting table opened them and tipped the contents of thousands of papers onto the counting tables.

Of course, the papers could have been for the vote counter's lunch order for the following day.

Yep, this video clip was debunked in December 2020

I think the crucial part of the story was the fact that Trump's team knew it was a false narrative but still went with it.

DL, several fake stories have been traced to X and what about Musk's giving a million dollars away everyday to voters, in effect buying votes for Trump?

It's truly mind-boggling when millions of people seem perfectly happy to have a "convicted felon" to be their President and to represent them worldwide.

Of course this time it's even more difficult to figure out what's true and what's false.

That's it, my addiction has been totally cured.  Can't be bothered to follow Trump, bloated and more bombastic than ever.

Maybe just waiting for tomorrow for the wars that he has said he'd end in "24 hours".

Yep, not only did HE win, but now we have a totally Republican controlled government.  The dems may as well pack up and go home.  They'll get nothing done.

I fear the craziness to come.

And yes, it would be nice to see the wars end....  uh huh...

I think I'd like to go into hibernation for 4 years, please.

I'd join you but I'm not sure what we'd wake up to in four years. He does have a rather disconcerting interest in nuclear weapons.

And in too many nasty things all round I understand.  In the US/UK/France/Germany govenmental debâcle I see growing steadily worse, the next few years are going to be interesting, but rather too challenging, I fear.

As Donald Trump is plainly such a dreadful person, a liar, a warmonger, a convicted sex offender and a felon, why did more people vote for him rather than Kamala Harris?

It's a mystery isn't it?

I watched the video - an actor playing a stand-up comedian who keeps turning sideways to look as his story board - boring.

The real reason Donald Trump wiped the floor with Kamala Harris?

The number one overriding reason is that Donald Trump is seen as authentic, warts and all.

Kamala Harris didn't make it as being seen as authentic, despite the celebs queueing up to sponsor her. Let's face it, if your campaign relies on the likes of Taylor Swift and Beyonce to gush that you are just what America needs, you've lost it before polling day.

I think that is what those who voted for him aspire to be.  No doubt they wish their daughters/grand daughters to marry men of such laudable character.   I have heard religious people on Radio 4 being interviewed saying they "look past" his character and have confidence in his policies.  May they reap what they have sown.

That is what the video said. Are you  sure you watched it?
