Taxe d'habitation - gites

We purchased land in 2006. At the time local planning laws stipulated only one dwelling could be built on the said 5000 sq metrs of land. We gained consent and built one house with two attached gites. 250 sq metres in total , also the limit at that time.

We are now being charged 3 seperate charges for tax d'habitation and also 3 charges of 1500€ each for the connection to main drainage despite the fact that we actually only make one connection to the main drain as we have a 'tank' to collect the waste from the house and gites before it is pumped to the main system.

Has any one had similar experiences?

Thanks
