Lehaut
Many times we have been told that in the UK house owners do not, in fact, own their house and it goes back to the Government/Monarch after 99 years. Think this comes from the confusion over the land houses are built on in certain areas i.e. the land does not belong to the house owner who pays rent on it. Do not believe such an system exists in France. Have seen a couple of articles recently scaremongering that it may come in here, and indeed has already been voted on in the French Parliament. It would appear to be on the books, but not in a retrospective manner. Tempting as it may seem for a cash strapped government to fill in a few fiscal black holes, it may come in for new build in selective areas. https://www.lavoixdunord.fr/1394738/article/2023-11-09/est-il-vrai-que-les-proprietaires-de-leur-maison-vont-devoir-payer-un-loyer-pour
