Lehaut
Managed to get away for the third year in a row for a week of winter wonderland walking in the French Alps. This time Chamonix. This was the view on the balcony from the flat we rented through the tourist office. One of the first walks took us to the view point of the Bossons glacier visible in the picture. I am sure gravity gets stronger as you get older, a climb of "only" 400 meters takes it out of you, and the draw of gravity seems to make the descent more perilous. An easier 8 km walk took us up 300 meters round three lakes. Saw no one else during the entire morning. Makes the ham and egg sandwiches even tastier when you have a good view. The walk to Les Tours took us over two avalanche chutes where, in parts the new snow was up to my thighs. Great place to holiday, not sure I would like to live there and pay the heating bills. We had the heaters on all the time in the chalet, even at night in the bedroom, which was a first for me.
menthe
Lucky Lehaut. It's my favourite part of France, summer or winter. Don't the mountains just take your breath away (in all senses)!
