Don't think the article is behind a pay wall.  Nantes is going to allow a citizen to pose a question to the conseil municipal and, allegedly, get an answer.  I know this came up on the forum some time ago - people are allowed to attend, but not get involved in all conseil municipal meetings.

There are limits to what can be asked, but it will be interesting to see how it pans out.

I am always amazed that government has been able to get so far from citizens; this kind of questioning should be automatic and always available.

Pffff...depending on the natural ability to esquive of the politician responding, is it worth the question?  Subtract the hecklers who are there just to hear the sound of their own voices and I can't see it contributing much to the democratic process 😉
