Sunday Driver
You have to pay it. Most people come to an arrangement with the buyers for them to make a contribution covering the period from when they move into the house. Your notaire will advise. jasjasika
This is the land and property tax, it is only payable by the owner ofthe property and is payable by whoever owned the property on the 1st ofJanuary each year - so if for example you purchased a French propertyin February you may not receive the Taxe d'Habitation bill until thefollowing year. If you are renting a property in France you are notliable to pay this Tax. The Taxe Foncieres is based on the rental valueof the property as assumed by the local authority. Some new or newlyrestored properties are exempt from paying the Taxe Foncieres for thefirst two years.
