Loirette
Hi, I've just received my demand for taxes foncieres for 2010 and the cotisations for Properties non baties - bases terres non agricoles has increased by quiet alot (312.5%). We bought a piece of building land at the side of our house last year and I wonder if this may be the reason for the increase, although I had assumed that we would receive a seperate bill as it is in theory a difference address. Has anyone had a similar experience?
pachapapa
No, nothing remotely similar; but you could request an extract of the" matrice cadastral" from your local centre des impôts fonciers.http://vosdroits.service-public.fr/pme/R18819.xhtml

jasika
You will also receive a bill for Taxe D'habitaion to be paid byNovember 15th. Best thing for you is to find someone, friend, neighbourwho speaks good French and ask them to come with you to the tax office. If you are tax residents (file French tax returns) then you may qualifyfor various allowances or reductions. Low income, reduced or no TVlicence etc. Also explain your situation at the Mairie and see what ison offer. Tons of opinion and hearsay in these columns but best to findthat person who speaks French and go directly to the relevant office.Always found the tax people very helpful. Will
Many of the people who give guidance (rather than 'opinion' or 'hearsay') here do speak French and have personal experience of the subjects on which they offer advice.Although I would agree that many tax people can be helpful, some of us have experienced quite the opposite, tinged with a touch of xenophobia from a few fonctionnaires.
