Change to tax form - confirmation of what exactly please

Hi vmax,

      You say "one would have to look at the wording of the treaties agreed with the the states mentioned in the notes for the form 2047" ---if you had looked at the 2008 treaty you would have found that in article 24 "avoidance of double taxation" it states that the exemption from french tax on these incomes is to be by the granting of a tax credit equal to the amount of french tax due on them. This is a change from the "old' treaty.  The problem arises because due to the almost sublime incompetence of the french authorities they have not managed to amend the notes to the 2047 to add the UK to the extensive list of countries already using the credit system ( page 3 of notes to 2047).   In order to try to catch up , some tax offices have been issuing their own "inhouse" versions of instructions of varying degrees of bad english and bad advice.

      CHECK YOUR "AVIS" WHEN IT COMES VERY CAREFULLY.
