woody234
I want to close my bank account with credit agricole cmds, I have 270 euros balance and no cards or loans. I have recieved 2 letters to sign and send back to them, the letter reads "declare demander le remboursement de 113 part socials" and "au prix unitaire de 1,53 euro, soit un total de 173 euro" does this mean they will charge me 113 euros to close the account, Is it normal in france to pay about 100 euros to close a bank account, can anyone help. cooperlola
Sounds like 113 x 1.53 to me - 173€ in total.I've looked up part sociale (meant nothing to me) and it sounded like shares you have in the bank (CA is a mutualiste) so it's like a dividend:http://votreargent.lexpress.fr/services-bancaires/part-sociale_8821.htmlI'm maybe being dim (which is more than possible), but I think they might be paying you! bubbles
Do French banks really charge you to close your account? If they do, I won't bother. I'm just going to take out what's left (probably around 35euros!) and leave the account running on nothing!
allanb
I think cooperlola is right. Is there a "je" somewhere before the word "déclare"? If so, you are declaring that you request reimbursement of whatever it is.
Sunday Driver
WoodyYou have 113 shares (parts sociales) in Credit Agricole and they are asking if you want to cash them in. They are valued at a statutory fixed price of 1,53€ per share so if you sign the letters and send them back, you'll receive 173€.There is no charge to close your account. Graham & Brenda
CA do not charge you to close an account - at least not in Charente or in Indre. I have done it both for myself and a friend. (Can't help with the translation as I have not come accross it before).
idun
In the past french banks most certainly did charge a lump to close an account. I think that Sarkozy stopped it, or maybe it was done a little earlier, it is, in my mind fairly recent. When I say I have several french bank accounts, it is simply because I was never prepared to pay the price in the past.
