woolybanana
So, the Germans will get their empire after all, from the Atlantic sea board though not quite as far as the Urals!

They will no doubt be glad and enthusiastic that there will not be a repeat event in the 21st Century for "parasitic" bankers.
pachapapa
Puzzled Wooly as to who you support. The Delors-Aubry Axe wishing to socialise the debt, OR, the trotskyist far left refuting social ising with bankers.[:)]http://www.20minutes.fr/economie/771858-euro-comme-europe-bord-gouffre-selon-jacques-delorshttp://www.20minutes.fr/ledirect/771920/lutte-ouvriere-ce-travailleurs-payer-note-crise

woolybanana
Oh Norman and others, I do thank you for telling me who Heffer is. And, no, I had never read him at all, at least, as I said, not knowingly. However, clearly he is someone whom you favour, Norman, so I shall take that as a recommendation! As to opinions, well, I go from my guts really - we bananas do you know - and still think that there must be a great deal of satisfaction in parts of Germany at what has happened, in a kind of 'I told you so' way. However, I am not sure if they would be able to control their unruly empire and would be better served to withdraw from the playground and let the kids slug it out alone. The problem is that then they will not be able to sell their high quality stuff, often manufactured by cheap labour elsewhere (eg Opel), but then that never posed a problem for the Swiss, did it?It is too easy for the heavily indebted nations of Europe to blame the euro however. Whatever happens, a major diet will do them good.

Not all is good en Suisse.
