Mrs Trellis
Not actually French finance but finance in France: Nationwide have sent an 'Overseas Information Form' relating to 'Reporting of saving income information regulations (2003)' as I have a French address. The form wants lots of info. and enclosed 'certified copies' of docs, signed by lawyer or attorney. Sounds expensive and they must have already seen my passport when I started an ISA. Have other people received this?
woolybanana
It is all part of the harrassment of their overseas customers by banking organisations. Most of the time the information is not needed to obey the money laundering rules but given that they are run by parochial little gits with minds smaller than Weston super Mare beach at high spring tide, they feel they have the right to ask any impertinent question they choose. In fact they already have most of what they want but are too lazy to look. mint
OH received one of these last year and, like you, I came for advice on the Forum.I was told that they were obliged to send the forms out but that you weren't obliged to fill them in!And, I do understand about Compliance in banking terms because, for my sins, I worked in a bank to save some money prior to coming to live in France.So....if you did nothing and just ignored the form, the bank would have fulfilled its obligation of sending out the form and you'd save yourself a lot of hassle. The result is that everyone's happy. So....just IGNORE the damn thing!
Mrs Trellis
Thanks Sweet! I did wonder... It reminds me of when I had a letter from the Mairie complaining about our little ruin along the road. The complaint was rubbish (and I later heard the person was a serial complainer). But the Mairie had got the wrong street, so I just replied saying we do not own a property on that street and we heard nothing. That was 5 years ago.We used to go to WSM when I was a child. We called it Weston Super Mud. But I liked the donkeys.

AnOther
I've use my daughters address for my NW A/C (their suggestion) so no forms for me hopefully.
Mrs Trellis
Using child's address means bank cards are sent there. I found Paypal and Vodaphone couldn't cope with a French address and a UK bank so swapped Smile to UK address and keep a few £ in that.
