fledermaus
We are planning on renting for a few months prior to buying somewhere in France, but probably don't want a contract for as long as 6 months. Does anyone know if it is like the UK, where the minimum contract is 6 months (unless you pay a hefty premium), we'd be looking for more like 3 months. Also are furnished rental properties easy to come by? And final question, is 400euro per month a realistic budget somewhere nearish to Angouleme (need min 2 beds, flat would be fine).(Have looked on the web, and it looks like you can get somewhere for that, but always hard to know if the 'virtual' situation is as it seems, in real life!) Any info greatly appreciated.....

Alexis
Helen is right. At this time of year I would say a gite is the best bet. The owners want you out by the season! Trouble is, what if you don't find your dream home until the week before you are due to leave? What if the vendors can't agree on the sale? Could take months to actually get the keys. Look on the black side? Moi?
